Music Teachers’ Association of California

The Music Teachers’ Association of California is a professional organization of music teachers, which includes teachers of keyboard instruments, strings, voice and winds. It has 65 branches throughout the state with over 5,000 members, all certified as qualified music teachers. All MTAC teachers have a music degree from an accredited college, university or conservatory, or the equivalent preparation through the organization’s rigorous membership requirements. The requirements and standards set by MTAC ensure that its teachers have the necessary qualifications and credentials to give private music lessons in a professional capacity.

The Butte County Branch of MTAC was chartered in 1951. There are currently 23 members with Susan Crane as president. With the help of your tax-deductible donations, the group sponsors local musical opportunities such as The Chico Summer Music Academy and The MTAC Youth Orchestra. For information regarding our organization, lessons, upcoming events or a list of MTAC teachers in your area please call (530) 345-4031.
